Officer-Involved Shooting at the Rio
Metro Police have identified the officer involved in a shooting at the Rio on Sunday morning that killed an armed robbery suspect.
Officer Sean Beck, 43, shot the unidentified male after the suspect tried to pull out a handgun while officers attempted to take him into custody, Metro said in a statement.
Beck, an officer with Metro's Career Criminal Section, has worked for Metro since January 1999, police said.
He is on paid administrative leave while a routine review of the shooting is conducted, police said.
Detectives were conducting surveillance on the suspect in connection with a string of casino robberies when they confronted him at the Rio, located at 3700 W. Flamingo Road, police said.
During a struggle with the suspect, officers used a Taser and ultimately shot him after he reached for his waist.
Police said a firearm was recovered from the suspect.
The incident is the 15th officer-involved shooting this year.
