Police raid marijuana grow house in western valley

Updated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 | 7:50 p.m.

Two people were arrested after a marijuana grow house bust today in the western valley collected 40 plants and 13 pounds of dried marijuana, according to Metro Police.

Narcotics officers served a search warrant about 11:50 a.m. at the house in the 3200 block of Crescent Run Court, near Desert Inn and Fort Apache roads, Lt. Mark Reddon said.

Police arrested a man and woman during the investigation, Reddon said.

The exact charges were unavailable.

Officers believe the pair were using butane to extract oil containing THC, the active ingredient of cannabis that gives marijuana users a high. Flammable solvents used to produce the oil, also known as honey oil, can make the extraction process dangerous, Reddon said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
