The wealthy are good people, too

A letter in Friday’s Sun (Dec. 5) titled “Working class made wealthy rich” is a good example of how President Barack Obama has cleverly turned us against the wealthy, making them the bad guys instead of what they really are: providers of jobs for thousands of people so they can have a home, food, cars and a good life. Why didn’t he instead mention the millions paid to rock stars, actors and athletes who maybe employ a half-dozen staff? Where is the outrage for them? But they also created ways to make a successful career and should be admired for doing so.

This country encourages bright people to innovate, create and discover ways to advance and make a better life for themselves and others, which is what the examples he cited have done and continue doing. People from all over the world keep coming here from places with governments like the writer thinks is so great. Try living there before criticizing our proven, successful system. Instead of complaining, we need to work toward returning to the basic principles upon which our once-great country was founded.
