Dark clouds in Las Vegas today are expected to bring rain to the valley and a chance for fresh snow on Mount Charleston, according to the National Weather Service.

Light rain is expected across the valley throughout the day before tapering off this evening, meteorologist Justin Pullin said. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected, with a chance of snow on Mount Charleston, he said.

The wet weather is the result of the same seasonal conditions that brought heavy storms to the West Coast last week. The Las Vegas area saw the remnants of those storms on Friday, with rain in the valley and about 8 inches of snow on Mount Charleston.

The forecast for the rest of the week is mostly sunny. Highs are expected to reach about 60 degrees this weekend.
