Coroner: Foster child died of allergy med overdose

Authorities say a 16-month-old Las Vegas girl who was apparently killed by her foster dad in a murder-suicide this fall died of an overdose of allergy medication.

Clark County coroner's officials say Michell Momox-Caselis was poisoned by an ingredient commonly found in antihistamines. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Police say 37-year-old foster parent Joaquin Juarez-Paez was found dead in his car in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lived. Coroner's officials determined he died of a painkiller overdose.

His wife was searching for the keys to that car when she found the toddler dead in her crib.

Officials from Child Protective Services say they had no reports of problems with the foster family before the murder-suicide.
