Nevada unemployment rate falls below 7 percent

CARSON CITY — Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent in November, the first time it has been below 7 percent since June 2008.

The state Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation reported today there were an estimated 94,600 jobless, 2,100 fewer than in October when the unemployment rate was 7.1 percent.

Gov. Brian Sandoval called it “tremendous news” that shows the solid growth as the labor market becomes more diversified.

The statewide numbers are seasonally adjusted, while the reports from the local areas are not.
