A 57-year-old man was killed and a 4-year-old boy injured in a hit-and-run incident Sunday evening in North Las Vegas, police said.

Officers received reports about 5:30 p.m. of a man down near East Cheyenne Avenue and Civic Center Drive, according to North Las Vegas Police.

The man was found on the road with critical injuries, and the child, who suffered minor injuries, was standing nearby, police said.

Both were transported to University Medical Center, where the man was pronounced dead, police said.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the man as Santiago Sanchez-Adame of North Las Vegas.

Police believe Sanchez-Adame and child were hit by a vehicle traveling east in the 2500 block of East Cheyenne Avenue as they crossed the street. They do not appear to have been in a crosswalk, police said.

It appears the vehicle left the scene without stopping, police said. Police are searching for a red Toyota, possibly with front-end damage, officials said.

Anyone with information about the incident can call North Las Vegas Police at 702-633-9111 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
