Cegavske evaluating whether to keep Reno office

CARSON CITY — Barbara Cegavske, who takes office next month as Nevada secretary of state, said she is evaluating all her divisions and is considering closing the agency’s Reno branch office.

Cegavske, who has served in the Assembly and state Senate, said no decision has been made on the fate of the Reno office. The secretary of state, who is responsible for elections and business filings, also has offices in Carson City and Las Vegas.

Cegavske also said she will elevate Scott Anderson, deputy secretary of state for commercial recording since 1997, to be her chief deputy, replacing Nicole Lamboley.

She intends to keep Scott Gilles as deputy in charge of elections and Catherine Lu as the office’s public information officer.

Gail Anderson, former administrator of the state Real Estate Division, will be her deputy in Las Vegas.

Cegavske said she will be in Carson City during the Legislature and will split her time between Las Vegas and Northern Nevada the rest of the time.
