RENO — Reno police say they have located the driver of a second car involved in an accident that killed a pedestrian this week, and he's cooperating with investigators.
Officer Tim Broadway said Wednesday the man told detectives he thought he struck a large animal on North Virginia Street about 4:30 a.m. Monday.
The victim, 54-year-old Vincent Yowell of Reno, was killed when he was hit by two vehicles while walking in a crosswalk in front of the Bonanza Casino.
A woman driving the first car pulled over and called for help before the second car ran over the man.
Police initially said the second driver was a hit-and-run suspect. But Broadway said based on his statements and cooperation, the case is being turned over to the district attorney to consider if charges are warranted.
