Boys, 11 and 15, identified as victims found in trailer fire

Two boys, ages 11 and 15, were identified as the victims firefighters pulled from a burned-out travel trailer last month.

Clark County and North Las Vegas firefighters found the bodies of Jerry Slayden Jr., 15, and Andrew Najera, 11, both of Las Vegas, on Jan. 26 inside the trailer at 4155 E. Carey Avenue.

Firefighters responded to reports of the fire about 3:30 a.m. after Adel Mira-Lizaola said a neighbor pounded on her door in a panic and had asked her to call 911.

She said she saw 20-foot flames and heard her neighbor say that someone was inside. After firefighters extinguished the flames, they discovered the two victims, Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck said.

Clark County Fire Department investigators were working to determine what caused the fire and why the children were inside. No further information has been made available about the incident.
