Fired manager pleads guilty in Las Vegas business fire

LAS VEGAS — A 48-year-old ex-beauty supply business manager has pleaded guilty in Las Vegas to setting fire last September to his former workplace.

Court records say Reynaldo Villarama Staana Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to one count of arson of property used in or affecting interstate commerce.

Staana is in federal custody.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden says Staana faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines at sentencing May 6.

Bogden said Staana was fired in August from the Beauty Supply Warehouse on Nellis Boulevard near Desert Inn Road in Las Vegas.

No one was hurt in the weekend fire on Sept. 8, but Bogden said damage was more than $1 million.
