A man died this morning after his motorcycle crashed into a light pole and caught fire, engulfing him in flames.
Metro Police said the motorcyclist crashed about 3:30 a.m. as he traveled east on Oakey Boulevard near Martin Luther King Boulevard, when he ran off the right side of the road and onto a sidewalk.
Motorists who saw the crash pulled over and dragged the man’s body away from the motorcycle and into the roadway. Paramedics rushed the rider to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
