Nevada health exchange cuts enrollee target more than half

CARSON CITY — Nevada health exchange officials are slashing their enrollment target by more than half.

The exchange had hoped to enroll 118,000 people by March 31. But sign-ups have lagged, with only 23,686 people selecting insurance plans on the exchange as of last week.

A spokesman said the exchange now projects enrollment of 50,000 by the end of next month.

But even that may be ambitious. To reach that target, the exchange will have to sign up about the same number of people in the next six weeks as it did in the first four months.
