As the world approaches the 100-year anniversary of World War I, the civil war in Syria has included such atrocities as trench warfare, artillery bombardments and poison gas weapons.
It is difficult to tell whether we are looking at France in 1914 or Syria in 2014. It appears nothing has changed in this sense.
What a shame that humanity has not progressed one bit!
