A 15-year-old Cheyenne High School student was hit by a car today in North Las Vegas after she attempted to run across the street to catch a bus.

She suffered a head injury that was not serious, North Las Vegas Police said in a tweet.

The teen was crossing the intersection of Allen and Hammer lanes at an angle when she ran in front of a car traveling south on Hammer, police said.

She was transported about 7 a.m. to University Medical Center.

The intersection, which was shut down while police investigated, has been reopened.
