Judge Eric Goodman presides during a court hearing at the Regional Justice Center on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.

Police say they don't have evidence that a criminal attack led to the critical head injuries suffered by a Las Vegas judge who is the son of the city's former and current mayors.

Police Lt. Clint Nichols said Wednesday that Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman's injuries on Dec. 15 may have resulted from falls inside or outside a city park men's restroom where Goodman was found.

Nichols says Goodman's cellphone shows that he was out jogging, and detectives haven't found witnesses or other evidence of an attack.

Goodman remembers nothing about his injury. He's recuperating after surgery for two head wounds.

Former Mayor Oscar Goodman and current Mayor Carolyn Goodman say they have lingering doubts about how their son was hurt.

They say doctors thought he'd been assaulted.
