Letter to the editor:

Nevada vets need national cemetery

No Americans have given more to our great nation than our veterans. All of them make great sacrifices for our country — many made the ultimate sacrifice by losing their lives.

The least our nation can do for these brave men and women is to respect them by giving them the dignity of being buried in a national cemetery that is close to their families.

The Wall Street Journal recently noted that our state — despite its huge veteran population of 300,000 — is one of the few states “that lacks a federally funded and operated national cemetery.”

To stop this travesty, Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., is pressuring the U.S. Veterans Administration to fund and build a large veterans cemetery in the Las Vegas area. Kudos to Titus for leading on this important issue.
