Injury crash

An 83-year-old woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a car crash in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

Lt. Ken Romane said the wreck happened about 12:30 p.m. near West Centennial Parkway and North Durango Drive. The woman, identified as Thedosia Macknic, was rushed to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition.

Witnesses and evidence indicated that Macknic was driving a Buick sedan south on Durango Drive when she ran a red light. At the same time, a Ford pickup truck traveling east on Centennial Parkway entered the intersection and crashed into the passenger side of the Buick, Metro Police officials said.

The impact of the collision caused the Buick to slide into a second pickup truck stopped at the intersection, police said.

The Ford's driver and a passenger received minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital. Metro is investigating the incident.
