I take exception to the last paragraph in Karen Fleischer’s letter to the editor, “Charity begins at home,” in which she states that “We must care for all of our people, feed and educate them in brotherhood. Only then will our country regain its greatness.”
Seems to me that our “greatness” was created by immigrants coming here to work so as to better themselves. We seem to have lost the motivation to improve our lot. Now, too many people expect others, including the government, to provide for them. How will this return us to what used to be the greatest country in the world?
