Officials are marking the start of an event that organizers say has built a solid following since moving to Las Vegas in 2005.

The annual World of Concrete is kicking off its 40th trade show Tuesday with a ceremony at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority expects the conference to draw 50,000 attendees through Friday.

Convention-goers are projected to spend more than $60 million on non-gambling food, lodging and entertainment.

The World of Concrete is the commercial concrete and masonry construction industry's annual trade show featuring products, machinery, equipment, safety training and networking opportunities.
