One again, Mike Smith has drawn a misguided political cartoon, which appeared in the Sun on Jan. 12. First of all, the Chris Christie scandal involves a poorly conceived, narrowly directed political dirty trick that did not even harm a political opponent, let alone misuse the law or influence an election.
In contrast, the Obama administration scandals often have involved the gross misuse of the law or the power of the state. Examples would include the Internal Revenue Service persecuting political opponents. Other Obama scandals simply involve extreme incompetence, poor judgment or inexperience. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Obamacare, the economic stimulus and so on.
Also, the reaction by Christie bears no comparison to the lack of response of the Obama administration to its messes. With the bridge scandal, there were immediate firings and resignations. With the Benghazi scandal, the primary culprit appears to be the frontrunner for the 2016 presidential nomination.
