Man shot in leg during robbery at apartment complex

A man was shot in the leg this afternoon during an apparent robbery, Metro Police said.

Witnesses told police they heard two gunshots and people screaming just before 3:30 p.m. at the Rexford Apartments in the 1700 block of Rexford Drive, near Oakey and Las Vegas boulevards.

Lt. Mark Reddon said the injured man, believed to be in his early 20s, was hit once in the leg and rushed to University Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening. Police suspect the shooting was the result of a robbery.
