I am appalled at how polarized U.S. politics has become. People not only think their view of the world is correct, but think everyone else must share their views.
The governor of New York recently said (paraphrasing) if you are pro-assault weapon, anti-abortion and anti-gay, you are an extremist and are not welcome in New York. President Barack Obama has taken much the same approach. He enforces only those laws that fit with his political agenda.
Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin confiscated their citizens’ firearms. Many U.S. politicians have tried this approach but have only had marginal success, due to that pesky Second Amendment and political leaders who defend the U.S. Constitution as their oath of office requires. What happens when the rest of us decide to obey only the laws we agree with? What happens when those who work hard for their money decide to quit supporting those who won’t?
