RENO — Railroad officials say two people have died after being hit by trains in two separate incidents in Northern Nevada.
Union Pacific officials say the deaths happened a few hours apart on Tuesday and a few miles away from each other, but on the same rail line.
Railroad spokesman Mark Davis says the first crash happened at about 12:15 a.m. near Galletti Way in the Reno-Sparks area. A train had been heading from Chicago to Lathrop, California when it struck the person.
Train traffic resumed a little after 4 a.m.
The second crash happened at about 6:15 a.m. at the Logan Road crossing in Fernley. A train that was heading from Oakland, California to Chicago was involved.
Train traffic resumed a little before 11 a.m.
The victims' identities weren't immediately released.
