A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Monday night in North Las Vegas, according to police.
A 67-year-old man was struck by a Toyota sedan traveling eastbound near Cheyenne Avenue and Commerce Street at around 8:30 p.m. Monday, North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said.
When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation has found the man was crossing the street but not using a crosswalk when he was hit.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, Patty said. Investigators are currently looking into whether excessive speed played a role.
