Metro Police are investigating an accident this afternoon in Sunrise Manor in which a vehicle hit a building and the 25-year-old driver was found dead.

Metro spokesman Officer Larry Hadfield said investigators are trying to determine whether the driver experienced some sort of medical episode before, during or after the accident near East Carey Avenue and North Hollywood Boulevard. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured, Metro said.

The crash occurred in the residential area about 12:37 p.m.

Witnesses said the car failed to stay in its lane while traveling south on Easement Lane south of Appleton Drive. They said the driver hit the right curb before continuing over a sidewalk and through a chain link fence before hitting an apartment building at 6996 Hopkins Drive.
