Police seek driver in deadly California bank heist

FRESNO, Calif. — Police in the Northern California city of Stockton say they're looking for the driver of a car that was involved in a bank robbery and violent shootout that ended with three deaths, including a hostage.

Officer Joe Silva of the Stockton Police Department said Saturday that investigators also suspect the same men in other bank robberies, including one in January at the same branch robbed this week.

Silva says that in both cases, armed robbers made their get-away by stealing a bank employee's car.

In Wednesday's robbery, police say three armed men were dropped off at a Bank of the West branch and took three women as hostages.

Two of the three robbers were killed. The surviving suspect was arrested after using a hostage as a human shield during a gunfight with police.
