A worker is dead after an accident this afternoon at the MGM Grand.
Few details were being released, but MGM Resorts International spokesman Gordon Absher said in a statement the MGM worker “died after an accident that resulted in a fall from the third floor of the conference center building.”
A photo taken from a helicopter and posted via Twitter by a KLAS-TV showed an opening in the third floor of the conference center with a break in a canopy below it. Underneath the canopy, a group of emergency responders were gathered.
The statement said Metro Police were investigating, but Metro spokesman Jesse Roybal referred questions to the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The state agency investigates workplace accidents.
Absher called the accident tragic. He said MGM was withholding the identity of the employee pending notification of the family.
