Las Vegas man indicted in fatal fight over cellphone

A 31-year-old Las Vegas man has been indicted on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of an acquaintance during an argument over a cellphone outside a fast-food restaurant several blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Asa Funderburk faces arraignment June 18 on a charge filed Thursday in Clark County District Court in the slaying of 43-year-old Brandon Charles Pickford.

Funderburk is being held without bail at the Clark County jail.

He was arrested shortly after the alleged attack a little after 8 a.m. April 17 outside a McDonald's on Sahara Avenue.

Police say Funderburk and Pickford knew each other and argued about Pickford's cellphone.

Funderburk told police Pickford pushed, spit and moved toward him with closed fists before he stabbed Pickford in the neck with a sharpened stick.
