letter to the editor:

President right to release prisoners

The criticism of President Barack Obama for releasing five prisoners from Guantanamo for one American soldier seems to be louder than the criticism of President George W. Bush, who released several hundred prisoners back to their countries. The five prisoners released in no way have as much value to America as one American soldier.

People worried about the idea that the returned prisoners pose an increased threat to U.S. troops must think that other terrorists, with the same passion and skills, have not replaced them long ago.

I would hope that the Republicans in Congress would quit blocking everything President Obama campaigned on, especially closing down Guantanamo.
