Electric Daisy Carnival traffic gums up morning commute

The mass exodus of Electric Daisy Carnival partygoers this morning has clogged traffic on southbound Interstate 15 from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to the Spaghetti Bowl.

Vehicles are moving about 20 mph on southbound I-15, leading to about an hour drive to reach the Spaghetti bowl from the Speedway, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said. Traffic then clears up around Charleston Boulevard before slowing down again near Flamingo Road.

The Speedway parking lot, where the three-day music festival was held, was about half full as of 7 a.m. Last year, traffic returned to normal about 10 a.m. as the festival let out, Hixson said.
