2 suspects arrested after hitting police car amid chase, Metro says

Two men driving a stolen vehicle were apprehended Tuesday night after leading Metro Police on a 20-minute chase that ended shortly after they hit the back of a Metro cruiser, according to police.

Metro received a call at 6:07 p.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle in a residential area near Sahara Avenue and Lamb Boulevard, Metro Lt. Mark Reddon said. At 7:42 p.m., a white Ford F250 fled after being spotted by air units in the 4400 block of Welter Avenue. Metro then identified the truck as stolen, and began following it.

Metro units kept their distance as the suspects drove as far north as Stewart Avenue before returning to the area on Arlington Street, Reddon said. A Metro unit disabled the truck with a tire deflation device called a "stop stick" near the intersection of Idaho Avenue and Arlington Street, but the suspects managed to drive off after colliding with the back of a cruiser. The pursuit ended shortly after the truck came to a stop at 4800 Idaho Ave., where officers arrested the two men at around 8 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
