A 17-year-old boy asleep at the wheel sideswiped a pole and almost hit a gas pump in the western Las Vegas Valley on Saturday morning, Metro Police said.
The teenager was not injured but was cited for driving in a careless manner, Metro Lt. Mike Wallace said.
The teen was driving a black Audi A4 south on Fort Apache Road at 10:12 a.m. when he drifted into the opposing lane, hit the curb, scraped a pole and almost hit a gas pump at the Arco station at the Warm Springs Road intersection. No other vehicles were involved.
Metro is investigating the crash, Wallace said.
