Police seek four suspects in shooting that killed man outside convenience store

A man was shot and killed Saturday night after a confrontation with a group of four people outside a convenience store.

Metro Police responded about 7:15 p.m. to the corner of 21st Street and Elm Avenue, where a man was lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he died.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the man and his wife were initially confronted by a group of four people as they entered a convenience store, police said. When they ran into them again on the way out, a member of the group shot several times, striking the victim.

All four suspects were estimated to be between 15 and 21 years old. One suspect is described as a thin, 5-foot-9 Hispanic male. A second is described as a Hispanic male with a thin build; the third suspect is a 5-foot-3, 240-pound Hispanic male; and the fourth is a Hispanic female with long, dark hair, police said.

Metro is investigating the shooting.
