Of deep pockets and federal taxes

Sometimes I have a hard time understanding some of the reasoning of the letters written to the editor. One recently caught my attention. This letter was finding fault with the tax breaks given to wind and solar energy companies. I understand his dissatisfaction with this practice, but I don’t understand why there is not a word about the Fortune 500 companies and corporations that pay no federal taxes at all. I read a recent article that said a large number of Fortune 500 companies had failed to pay any federal income taxes for at least one of the past five years, and that General Electric Co., Boeing Co. and Verizon Communications Inc. had not paid any for all of the past five years. Interesting, isn’t it?
