Natural gas leak fixed; downtown intersection reopens

Updated Thursday, March 6, 2014 | 8:20 a.m.

A construction crew hit a natural gas line Wednesday night, causing a leak that closed the intersection of Grand Central Parkway and West Bonneville Avenue in downtown Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue was notified about 11:20 p.m. of the leak. Firefighters evacuated a building at the World Market Center as a precaution, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Southwest Gas fixed the leak about 4 a.m. No customers were affected by the leak, and no one was injured, Southwest Gas officials said.

The intersection has since reopened to traffic.
