Two unions have agreed on a five-year contract with the Tropicana resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Culinary and bartenders unions announced the deal Thursday. The tentative agreement will cover about 650 hotel workers.

The previous contract expired last June.

The unions recently agreed on new contracts with MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment. More than a dozen independent casinos are still in negotiations. These include the Golden Nugget, the D, Tropicana and the Stratosphere.

The Tropicana was the first independent casino to settle.

Members of the Culinary Union, the largest union in Las Vegas, plan to vote later this month on whether to authorize negotiators to call a strike.
