5 arrests, 1 sought in slaying at Nye County dairy

Updated Tuesday, March 11, 2014 | 11:52 a.m.

Nye County sheriff's officials say an alleged gunman is sought on a murder charge and five relatives are being held pending immigration proceedings following the shooting death of a 25-year-old man last week at a dairy in rural Amargosa Valley.

Detective David Boruchowitz (buh-ROOK'-uh-witz) says 23-year-old Cesar Morales-Moreno is accused of fatally wounding Christian Torres-Jiminez on Thursday night.

Morales-Moreno hasn't been located, and a motive for the slaying wasn't immediately disclosed.

Boruchowitz says Morales-Moreno's relatives — Julio Neri-Espinoza, Jose Raul Morales-Leon, Raul Morales-Moreno, Leticia Santiago-Hernandez and Marian Morales-Leon — were arrested on accessory to murder charges.

They're accused of providing detectives with false stories about the slaying.

Boruchowitz says they're in the U.S. without documentation and each face immigration proceedings.

Amargosa Valley is about 85 miles west of Las Vegas.
