Coroner IDs man shot by police at skydiving site

Authorities have identified a man who was shot by police after a dispute about a recreational vehicle in a Las Vegas-area skydiving landing zone.

Clark County coroner's officials say 58-year-old Ronald Wayne Tate died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest after the standoff Sunday at the Jean Airport.

Police Capt. Matt McCarthy says a skydiving company employee summoned police after a man in an RV wielded a rifle and refused to leave a drop zone.

McCarthy says the man barricaded himself in the RV and was shot dead after he pointed a rifle at SWAT officers. No one else was hurt.

Jean Airport is off Interstate 15, about 30 miles south of Las Vegas.

The officer who shot Tate has been identified as Charles Moser.
