For a long time, I’ve considered it a tragedy that such a large percentage of Americans know nothing of the world outside their personal space and lives. Now, with the technology that exists, it is even more of a tragedy and also much more dangerous.
There are a hundred ways to be informed, and they take little effort or time. The same thing that makes information so available is what makes the world so much smaller and more dangerous — and that is technology.
I fear for our future, for when such a large part of our populous is so completely uninformed, we are very open to being manipulated.
