Nevada Democrats retain 64,000 voter lead

CARSON CITY — Nevada Democrats retain a 64,000 voter registration lead over Republicans as the 2014 election season ramps up.

Figures released Thursday by the secretary of state's office shows Democrats account for 41 percent of Nevada voters, while Republicans make up 35 percent.

About 18 percent of Nevada voters are registered as nonpartisan. Another 5 percent are with the Independent America Party and the rest affiliate with the Libertarian or other minor political parties.

The deadlines to register for the June 10 primary are Saturday, May 10, if registering by mail; and Tuesday, May 20, if registering online or in person.
