AAA Nevada plans free ‘Tipsy Tow’ service on Cinco de Mayo

AAA Nevada is offering to take Cinco de Mayo revelers and their cars home for free this May 5, according to a AAA press release.

People don’t have to be AAA members to take advantage of the Tipsy Tow program, which will offer drivers who have been drinking rides home from 6 p.m. on May 5 to 6 a.m. on May 6, according to the release.

To use the one-way service home, people can call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and tell the operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow.”

AAA will tow people home up to 10 miles, the release said. Additional passengers can also get a lift to the driver’s home, provided there is room in the tow truck, the release said.

Reservations will not be accepted, the release said.

“Many people enjoy getting into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, which tends to involve plenty of celebrating,” said Cynthia Harris, spokeswoman for AAA Nevada, in a statement. “If you’ve been drinking alcohol, don’t get behind the wheel. Give AAA a call and we’ll make sure you get home safely.”
