A hot, breezy weekend is on tap for Southern Nevada

Las Vegas Valley residents beat the heat

Las Vegas Valley residents use the water features at the Paradise Park and Community Center to escape the heat.

Friday marked the warmest day of the year so far in the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

The heat — Friday's high reached 94 degrees — is expected to carry into the weekend, with temperatures hanging around the mid to upper 90s, said meteorologist Chris Stumpf.

Winds are also expected to pick up over the weekend. On Saturday, winds are expected to be about 15 to 20 mph, with possible afternoon gusts of 25 mph, Stumpf said.

On Sunday, winds are expected to increase to 30 mph and grow stronger at night, Stumpf said.
