Editor’s note: There are more than 1 million apps available for download from Apple's App Store and a similar number of Android apps available on Google Play. Staff writer Brian Nordli weighs in on one of the applications he deems worthy of being the Sun’s App of the Week.
Phone App: Epoxy
Where you can find it: Apple’s “App Store,” Android’s “Google Play”
What is it: So often those business loyalty-reward cards can be a hassle. They end up lost one stamp before that free smoothie or sandwich, or ripped and torn, taking up valuable space in the wallet.
This is where Epoxy comes in handy.
The app stores loyalty-rewards cards digitally by having users scan a “QR” code after a purchase at participating businesses. Although not every business with a loyalty-rewards program accepts a smartphone version, Epoxy provides a GPS map that shows where the nearest places are that participate in the service.
Meanwhile, the app has a review function and alerts about events going on at various participating stores, restaurants and venues.
Epoxy makes sure you get that free sandwich you worked so hard to earn, without the hassle of those pesky punch cards.
