Widower sues Summerlin Hospital in TB case

A man who lost his wife and at least one twin daughter to tuberculosis after the disease went undiagnosed has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Las Vegas hospital.

Ruben White's suit, filed Tuesday, names Summerlin Hospital and numerous doctors and nurses there as defendants.

The hospital issued a statement expressing sympathy for the White family but denying allegations of malpractice.

The complaint says 25-year-old Vanessa White showed symptoms of tuberculosis but was never properly screened for the illness and kept visiting her premature twin girls at the hospital last summer.

White's first baby died and was never tested for tuberculosis. White died in July and was diagnosed with it during an autopsy, and her second baby died of tuberculosis later.
