Shooting

Gang unit detectives are investigating a shooting Tuesday at a Boulder Highway apartment complex, Metro Police reported.

Police received a report just after 7 p.m. of four or five gunshots at The Suites complex at 4855 Boulder Highway, near Flamingo Road, triggering panic among residents, Metro Lt. Mark Reddon said.

A man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, he said. The man underwent surgery and was expected to survive, officials said.

Witnesses, meanwhile, said they thought people involved in the shooting had barricaded themselves in an apartment, but the unit turned out to be empty, police said.

A possible suspect has been identified, but no one was in arrested, Metro Lt. David Gordon said.

Apartment security personnel initially told police that another man had been wounded, but officers concluded there was only one victim, Reddon said.
