A Las Vegas judge set bail at $100,000 and ordered house arrest for a 25-year-old Las Vegas man who claims the shooting of his friend, an aspiring rapper and former U.S. Marine, in a suite atop a Las Vegas resort last week was an accident.

Jim Edward Johnson's defense lawyer, William Terry, said Wednesday that his client will post bail and appear for a preliminary hearing July 1 in the slaying of 25-year-old Evan Plunkett.

Plunkett lived in Henderson and rapped under the name "Hollywood Will."

Police say more than 50 people at the suite in the Palms resort Fantasy tower when the shooting happened about 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Terry says Johnson was blocking the hand of a man who was about to strike Plunkett when the gun discharged.
