A 28-year-old inmate died Wednesday at a prison near Indian Springs, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Carlos Perez was serving 18 to 48 months for battery causing substantial harm, officials said. He died Wednesday evening at High Desert State Prison northwest of Las Vegas, officials said.
Perez had been incarcerated since March 2013.
The Department of Corrections did not indicate what caused his death.
According to NDOC, an investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be conducted.
