Las Vegas tourism officials say the destination expects to see more than 40 million visitors this year —an all-time record number— after four years of consecutive growth.

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority senior vice president of finance Rana Lacer said Thursday that revenue from room taxes paid by visitors this last fiscal year was more than the group expected.

That extra revenue is helping boost this year's budget by 11 percent to $317.1 million.

The group also plans to spend more on advertising, marketing and capital projects for a total of $303.5 million.

And the firm behind the slogan 'what happens here, stays here' appears to also be sticking around.

The authority's board members told their CEO to negotiate a new three-year contract with R & R Partners.
