Two pedestrians, bicyclist killed on roadways this weekend

Three people were killed in the Las Vegas Valley over the weekend.

In the first incident, a woman was hit and killed by a car early Saturday morning in North Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Police received a call at 4:25 a.m. reporting that a bicyclist had been hit by a car. Witnesses at the scene told police the car, a dark gray 2006 to 2009 Dodge Charger, was traveling on East Charleston Boulevard east of Frank Street. Both the bicyclist and vehicle were traveling eastbound in the same lane. The driver hit the bicyclist, who was forced to the ground, according to Metro Police report. The driver of the vehicle continued driving east on Charleston Boulevard without stopping.

Emergency medical personnel arrived, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still searching for the driver, whose vehicle should have extensive damage to the right front side.

In the second incident, a pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday evening on Sands Avenue west of Howard Hughes Parkway.

According to Metro Police, a Cadillac was traveling eastbound on Sands Avenue in the outside lane at 10:48 p.m. A 35-year-old man wearing dark clothing was crossing Sands Avenue from the north side to the south side outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by the front of the Cadillac.

The driver did not show any signs of impairment, according to a Metro Police report. The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In the third incident, a 66-year-old woman died after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.

The woman was crossing South Maryland Parkway south of Canosa Avenue outside of a mark crosswalk at 12:55 a.m., according to Metro Police. A Nissan Xterra was traveling south and hit the pedestrian and knocked her down into the roadway, according to Metro Police report.

The driver remained on scene, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
